“THE MISEDUCATION OF CAMERON POST”
A festival favourite from 2019. It premiered Sundance in 2018 where it won the prestigious Grand Jury Prize for US Drama.
Synopsis: ‘In 1993 after teenage Cameron is caught in the backseat of a car with the prom queen, she is sent away to a treatment centre in a remote area called God’s Promise. While she is being subjected to questionable gay conversion therapies, she bonds with some fellow residents as they pretend to go along with the process while waiting to be released.’
This event is free/koha and no registrations are essential. Seating is on a first-come-first-served basis at Christchurch Art Gallery events and the Gallery will be open at least a half hour before screening.
Tickets for Alice and Lumiere screenings are also free but must be booked online or by phone and uplifted at least 15 minutes before screenings start. See
https://lumierecinemas.co.nz/ and https://alice.co.nz/
For a full Queer Festival schedule, pick up a Canterbury Film Society brochure from city cafes, libraries or the Christchurch Art Gallery in Montreal Street or check out our online programme. Signing up for updates can also be done on the Canterbury
Film Society website’s home page.
Parking: street parking is metered during the day and weekends but free after 5pm Mon-Sat. For Art Gallery or Lumiere events, the Art Gallery’s underground parking is $1 per half-hour. Alice Cinemas offers free parking during weekend and evening events (ask their friendly staff at the counter).
