Join follow Canterburians as we form a single rainbow snake biking through town in celebration of diversity, fitness, sustainability and our bike-friendly city. The 30-minute ride across Hagley Park and the CBD will be captured in photos and video to be used to promote the great place we live.
Fun-loving volunteers are needed as:
- Bicycle Riders: 12 groups of between 6-10 riders dressed in each of the 12 colours of the progressive rainbow flag (eg 6 red, 6 orange… 6 yellow)
- Marshals: At least 25 people able to take a position along the route to keep walkers, dogs, riders (ours and others) safe. This is a great role for those who might be less than mobile but able to communicate clearly in person and by radio, and those with current First Aid certification are a plus.
- Photographers and videographers: People are invited to take position along the route, particularly around prime landmarks, to capture the ride as it passes by. You’ll agree to provide the photos and footage to Rainbow Ride to be shared freely with community and city groups for proud promotion.
- Marketing and organisational gurus: A few who are gifted at getting the word out and wrangling materials are welcome.
Let’s make this inaugural Rainbow Ride a fantastic cornerstone of Christchurch Pride weekend!
