This workshop series is a non-judgmental safe space for the rainbow community to learn useful life skills.
WORKSHOP ONE:
How the f*ck do cars work?!
Join us at Climate Action Campus for a friendly workshop covering how cars work, how to maintain them with a Q&A and hands on demonstrations!
We will have tutors from the rainbow community who are skilled in the car world to teach you all the basics about how cars work, how best to maintain them and answer any questions you have.
What to expect:
A classroom workshop covering the basics of how a car works, what those buttons mean and when (and when not) to use your handbrake!
A hands-on demonstration in which you will learn how to check oil, water and other bits
An opportunity to ask our friendly tutors anything you like! (No such thing as a silly question!)
What to bring:
a notepad and a pen/pencil
a car (if you have one!)
water bottle
snacks
Koha entry, registrations essential.

Smell the wafts of summer blooms in the air, sip a glass of floral-infused Prosecco, and step into the charming country gardens of Hemsworth Estate to celebrate our rainbow community at our annual Pride Garden Party.
Cheers! Late summer blooms are rampant, and and you’re invited to celebrate Pride with a Garden Party in the Orchard at Hemsworth Estate
Enjoy a pride-themed High Tea, unlimited iced tea, coffee and lemonade, a complimentary floral infused cocktail or mocktail, and a delightful afternoon of delicious food, lawn games, and wandering the gardens

Starting at 2:00pm, you’ll be treated to a glass of floral-infused cocktail (or a mocktail), you’ll then be seated at your table for a Pride-themed High Tea featuring mouth-watering morsels made fresh in our kitchen, surrounded in countryside luxury.
Once you’ve had your delightful fill of High Tea, you might try your hand at some lawn games, or wander the gardens.
Wear some of your Floral-Themed best to capture you and your companions in front of our Portrait Frame for a photo op, and the chance to win a spot prize on the day.
Our Pride Garden Party includes:
– Begin your festivities with a floral Infused glass of bubbles on arrival (or mocktail!)
– Admire the beauty of the gardens and enjoy a delectable array of pride-themed high tea treats. Lavender Tea Cake anyone?
– Challenge your friends to a spirited game of pétanque, show off your skills in croquet, or aim for a ringer in quoits.

| Come and celebrate Pride AND St Patrick’s Weekend with Southern Cross Irish Dance at our Pride Ceili! (Ceili = Irish Barn dance!) The evening will feature live Irish music, local Irish dance performers, and lots of chances to join in with our called Ceili dances. No previous dancing experience required as we will talk you through each dance. All are welcome at this family friendly event. Live Irish music, bar, nibbles, great craic! Bring those dancing shoes and see you there! |
A social event for the trans community to get together, meet, mingle, have a yarn and share some kai. Open to people of al̲l̲ ages, from across the gender spectrum, at all stages of transition. Koha appreciated to help cover venue hire costs. You may bring a cis partner/parent/ally with you, as long as they remember that this is a trans-focused event.
This is a dry event at a smoke-free, vape-free venue.

Celebrate love, diversity, and community while watching skaters battle it out in full colour – glitter, rainbow laces, bold makeup, and all the derby attitude you can handle. Expect big blocks, powerful jams, halftime fun, and a crowd that brings the noise.
Whether you’re derby-obsessed or brand new to the sport, this is your invitation to cheer loud, be proud, and skate with solidarity.

Join Jess Niurangi Maclean She/Her – Ngāti Kahu, Ngāti Hine, Ngāpuhi, Clan O’Hara, Clan Maclean and UC Lecturer in Criminal Justice for an engaging conversation about decolonising gender and sexuality in an Aotearoa context, with refreshments and the chance to ask questions and engage with Jess after she speaks.
