The Veggie Rainbow Community was established in 2002. We are one of Christchurch’s longest running LGBTQIA+ groups. The Veggie Rainbow Community dining group is open to all members of the gay/lesbian/bisexual/trans/queer/intersex/asexual community who enjoy plant-based food. The one proviso is that only veggie food can be ordered. Pay only for what you order.
Most of our members are vegans/ vegetarians or have a veggie partner or just really like veggie food!

The group meets at different restaurants. We dine at a variety of restaurants, both veggie and non-veggie.

Chch Pride and Alice are proud to present and Advance Screening of PILLION.

Alexander Skarsgard and Harry Melling star in the hilarious, subversive and sexy, and surprisingly tender love story about a timid man who is swept off his feet when an enigmatic, impossibly handsome biker takes him on as his submissive.

Wallflower Colin (Harry Melling) leads a humdrum existence until he meets the impossibly handsome Ray (Alexander Skarsgård), a mysterious biker he is soon desperately devoted to.

As Colin submits to Ray and enters an exciting new world of desire, he must decide the limits of his devotion.

Kia ora,

I’m Cheena (she/her) a queer-identifying movement facilitator. Earlier this year I started Queer Community Yoga Ōtautahi – movement exploration for queer, trans, and gender-diverse people. I’m offering a weekly yoga practice that centres curiosity, community, and celebrating who we already are.
People are invited to arrive just as they are. All movements are optional – you can move (or be still) as much as you like.

Classes are run out of Linwood Eastside Gallery. We move surrounded by a diverse range of artworks, to celebrate the art of our bodies!

Join us at Windrose House to watch various queer documentaries, TV shows and films every second Sunday at 5pm.
Bring snacks, ipuwai (drink bottles), blankets and whatever else will help you feel at home. We’ll have popcorn and tea available.
The space will be set up with various seating options, and a mattress with blankets on the floor for full chill mode.
The whare is wheelchair accessible – just DM Mel or Erica as you’ll need to come in the back door.
This is a queer space, pro-trans, pro-Palestine, and we value respect and consent. Allies are welcome but please respect the kaupapa and the people.

Kia Ora!

As part of the Ōtautahi Pride 2026, our Rainbow Families meetup will be joining forces with Christchurch Pride and attending the Closing Picnic!
We will have some activities for the tamariki and a shady area to sit down and have some kōrero and fun together.
The playground won’t be far, and if it’s warm enough we might even get the last of the paddling pool season!
Please bring your picnic blanket and kai, all your whānau and don’t forget your hats and sunscreen!

Whether you are a rainbow whānau group regular, or you’ve never heard from us, come and join us! We look forward to meeting you all!
