Join drag queens Little Miss Cinamon, Jack Swallows, and Tony Chestnut for a lively and informative chat about all things drag!
MC Ray Shipley (a self-confessed outsider when it comes to the world of drag) will lead a discussion with these fabulous queens, asking all the questions about this artform that you might be too afraid to ask! There’ll be an opportunity for questions from the floor too – so whether you’re a budding performer, a life-long lover of drag, or a curious on-looker, this event will surprise, educate and delight. Plus, it wouldn’t be a drag event without a glorious dance number at the end!

Fresh Off The Page is the playwriting and play-reading initiative that began in Tāmaki Makaurau in 2016, and has assisted a number of Asian writers into development since 2018. They expanded to include Pōneke and Ōtautahi in 2022.
One of our writers have spent over two months workshopping and redrafting her plays. Now, is the time to present it to fresh eyes to help further it’s development!
But When We’re Alone by Reylene Rose Hilaga
“A secret love story in two lifetimes. The story of two women from different cultures navigating their relationship away from their Asian immigrant families.”

Chinese Pride New Zealand is collaborating with Beijing Queer Film Festival and Nowhere Bookstore, bringing new Chinese queer voices to Christchurch! We will be screening New Moon Chapter One新月一章, a documentary feature film directed by Li Xinyue, part of the most recent Beijing Queer Film Festival selection.
Beijing Queer Film Festival is currently the only film festival in mainland China to offer a public forum to films and discussions exploring sexuality and gender identities.
About the film – New Moon Chapter One新月一章
In July 2020, I returned to my hometown, Harbin, where I had been away for six years. At the age of 24, the trajectory of my life came to a halt, and I began to re-examine how I had been carried along and shaped by the currents of life. “Xinyue” (“New Moon”) was the name my mother gave me, inspired by the beauty she looked up to amid pain and chaos. It led me to reflect on the 1990s, the decade I was born, and to examine the eternal entanglement between hopeful aspirations and harsh realities.

| Folk of all faiths and none are warmly invited to join us in our annual Pride Service @Aldersgate, followed by sumptuous refreshments and a chance to make connections. This is an unabashed participatory celebration of the fabulous diversity of humanity, queer & straight, CIS-gender and gender diverse, yound and old. Led by Rev Philo KInera and Lexee Blackmore |

| Dame Dr Sue Bagshaw will led a Spirited Conversation, as she care-fully explores this important topic. The government’s proposed ban on ‘puberty blockers’ has not gone away. In December the High Court was convinced to grant an urgent injunction to temporaily suspend the ban, but the courts are yet to make a substantive decision. So it’s important that we understand the full story. What is science and what is moral panic? How can we best support our young people? |

Saddle up
Call Me Hot, Not Pretty is where Midwest Princess meets Ōtautahi on a Saturday night. Inspired by the dramatic theatrics of Chappell Roan we’re talking double denim, high camp, power stances, line-dancing breaks, and at least one person taking hobby horsing far too seriously (as they should).
Your Girl Richard will be on the decks spinning our favourite pop princess anthems, with more entertainment still to be announced.
This is a night for big outfits, bigger personalities, and the kind of confidence that makes eye contact across the room — and holds it.
Whether you’re a Midwest Princess or just someone who believes in the holy trinity of camp, pop, and main-character energy, this dancefloor is for you, everyone is welcome here.
Hot is theatrical.
Hot is intentional.
We will be HOT TO GO.
Come ready to commit to the bit
