DESCRIPTION:Join us for opening night on Friday 7th November from 7pm onwards – Meet the photographers\, enjoy kai and kōrero\, and get your very own limited-edited prints from this special exhibition. \n A photography exhibition celebrating the resiliency of the rainbow community and highlighting the ways we have found to gather\, despite not having a permanent space in Ōtautahi Christchurch. \n This fundraiser is supporting the establishment of a Rainbow Hub\, which will serve the community as a drop-in centre and a co-working space for folks working across the rainbow services sector. This is a collaborative project between multiple local organisations and community members. \n After opening night\, you can view the photographs at Te Wā until the exhibition closes on 13th November. \n All funds raised during the exhibition will be matched and doubled through GiveOut Day! You can make a donation through their online platform. \n Please RSVP to help us plan kai for the evening!

DESCRIPTION:Mana Tipua is a Ōtautahi-based organisation supporting rangatahi takatāpui (LGBTQIA+ Māori) aged 13–25 through kaupapa Māori community\, wellbeing\, and educational programmes. This January\, they are hosting Noho Raumati—a national gathering at a marae in Waitaha for rangatahi takatāpui aged 15–25 from across Aotearoa to connect\, learn\, and celebrate identity. The event is free\, with kai and transport (including flights) provided.\nThroughout the year\, Mana Tipua also runs regular activities in Ōtautahi\, including social drop-ins\, study sessions\, reo Māori classes\, and kaupapa Māori community gatherings\, as well as one-on-one wellbeing and gender-affirming support.

DESCRIPTION:This October the Christchurch Youth Choir is honoured to be performing Craig Hella Johnson’s three-part oratorio “Considering Matthew Shepard”. \nWritten in response to the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard\, a young\, gay man from Wyoming\, and the events that followed his death\, Johnson seeks to “create\, within a musical framework\, a space for reflection\, consideration\, and unity around his life and legacy”. The work features a collection of poems\, passages from Matt’s personal journal\, writings from his parents\, newspaper reports\, and interviews\, set to an array of musical genres\, including theatre\, jazz\, classical oratorio\, and gospel music. \nMatt’s story and this beautiful work hold a lot of significance for us as a diverse choir of young people and supporters of the LGBTQ+ community. We hope to inspire in our audience the same fire\, joy\, and passion that this work inspires in us — a commitment to fight for a brighter future\, together. \nYou don’t want to miss our most anticipated concert yet!
