How Long in Pride: 2020 will be my 9th year
What doing Pride means to me: There was a time in my life when I felt like I didn’t fit in...
In a city that felt fractured, unfriendly and untrustworthy. I didn’t have any real spaces that I felt like I could go and meet like-minded people like myself. That’s when I volunteered with Chch Pride.
I have personally seen it grow bigger each year. Coming into my 5th year as chairperson it always puts a smile on my face to see people connecting. If even one person attends an event and feels like they are loved, meets a new friend, learns of a new service or just feels like they are part of the rainbow community then that simply warms my heart. I am blessed to feel like part of a large Christchurch family.
My hopes and dreams are for Christchurch, moving forward in the future, is to be known as an open LGBTQIA+ friendly and diverse city filled with culture and fun for those regardless of sexual orientation or gender. Love is love.
P.S we all know I love a good party.
